Where Do I Start?
When a new client contacts me and asks, "Where do I start? Which service is right for me?" I ask a series of questions to assess what the client is trying to accomplish and where they are starting from. The answers are often similar, but with different symptoms. It begins something like this, "I have pain/discomfort in my back but sometimes it moves into my legs. I also have headaches randomly. I don't sleep very well because the pain wakes me up." Or perhaps it sounds more like this, "I just hurt all over some days while other days it isn't too bad. I don't have much energy and feel like I'd like to sleep forever. Occasionally I experience tingling in my arms."
If this sounds familiar, but perhaps substituting a few of the symptoms with your own, I'd tell you to start with the Central Nervous System (CNS). The CNS, which consists of the brain, all the nerves in the spine and the membranes system that houses and connects them, along with the cerebral spinal fluid, dictates everything that goes on in the body. When you are suffering from varied and what seems to be, random symptoms, it is usually because something is off in the CNS.
Using Craniosacral Therapy (CST) I can manually reset that system by releasing the restrictions in the system. It is deeply relaxing to the client as it effects the entire body and all its systems. Then as I "restart" or bring that system back "online" it will help to reset the problems elliviating or reducing some of the symptoms. I repeat this over a series of three appointments no more than a week between each one. This helps retrain the CNS how to switch from its "rest and relaxation" system to its "flight and fight" counterpart smoothly. As the body re-learns how to do this process it helps all systems of the body to work more smoothly and continually. Therefore, by correcting the problem in the CNS, it corrects many symptoms in the client's body.
So when you don't know where to start, start with the Central Nervous System.
